A war fought with no weapons and ambushes, victims or abuse, but with ready cash: the indigenous populations are buying back the lands which had been forcefully taken away from them. And they do this by selling their only riches: the delicate and sweet “Sierra coffee”. For centuries this has been the currency used by Arhuaco families: the valuable coffee beans were used to buy anything they were unable to produce with subsistence farming.

Today they are used to buy back pieces of their history. Up until ten years ago, every family grew its own coffee, took it to the processing factory and received the profits from its sale.
