Second: I have never felt alone. As far as I could see, there were at least ten other people absorbed in my same occupation: standing in the flow of people, camera on a tripod , stealing pictures from the crowd. They are street photographers, one of the most authentic products of this city. Fashion here is not born on the unreachable haute couture catwalks, but rather in urban traffic.

The roads of Tokyo are a melting-pot of continuously evolving styles, a permanent fashion show where models are young and not-so-young, attractive and ugly, fat and thin. This is where fashion publications, teen-ager magazines and on-line blogs send their photographers.
